Crown lifting/raising is the removal of lower branches from a tree. Good practice dictates that we avoid removing large branches from the main trunk to avoid causing large wounds, but sometimes it’s unavoidable. Mature trees we prefer to restrict cuts to secondary growth or reducing primary branches for the health of the tree.
Common Reasons For Work
- Allow better access and light under the tree
- Provide more clearance between tree and building
- Cosmetically improve the canopy
